Niki Haris

Niki Haris fascinates me precisely because she thrived where the spotlight rarely lands. Spending fourteen years, from 1987 to 2001, as one of Madonna's backing vocalists demands a rare blend of skill, stamina and selflessness, and her guest lead work on Snap! singles proves she could command the front too. Fluent across pop, R&B, jazz and dance, she embodies the consummate working musician, the voice everyone in the room trusts. I have a soft spot for artists like her who define a sound without chasing the marquee. Her career is a masterclass in craft over fame, and I deeply respect that.
