My Take
What moves me about Sentsov is that his honors read less like a filmography than a record of conscience. A Crimean-born director who studied economics, made features like Gamer and Numbers, then literally took up arms for Ukraine. The Sakharov Prize, the Legion of Honour, the Order for Courage, these weren't awarded for box office. I find his story almost impossible to file under one job title. To me he embodies the idea that for some artists the act of creating, and refusing to be silenced, is itself the boldest work. I hold him in genuine, uncomplicated respect.
