My Take
Olena Zelenska interests me as an accidental figure of immense consequence. Trained in architecture, working as a screenwriter, she never set out to become a wartime symbol, yet she carries that role with a composure I find remarkable. Her recognition by the BBC and Time is not honorific; she has used her own voice rather than simply standing beside her husband. What strikes me most is the courage of staying visible during the most dangerous period imaginable. A writer understands the weight of words, and I sense she deploys hers deliberately. I respect her steadiness far more than any title.
