Orianthi

Orianthi is one of those guitarists who makes you forget every tired conversation about gender and rock music — she just plays, and she plays insanely well. Growing up in Adelaide and clearly obsessed with the instrument from a very young age, she earned the kind of credibility most musicians spend decades chasing: Michael Jackson personally chose her as his lead guitarist for the This Is It residency. That alone tells you everything. Then she dropped "According to You" in 2009 and proved she could write a pop-rock hook that sticks to your brain for days. She's a true guitarist's guitarist wrapped in a radio-friendly package, and that combination is rarer than people give her credit for.
