Pamela Mason

What draws me to Pamela Mason is how many creative hats she wore. Born in either Westgate-on-Sea or Southend-on-Sea, she was an actress, author, and screenwriter, and the creative partner as well as first wife of the great James Mason. I admire people who can both perform in front of the camera and construct the stories behind it, since that range is genuinely uncommon. It would have been easy to vanish into a famous husband's shadow, yet she kept writing under her own name, which I find quietly defiant. A creative life sustained into her late sixties commands my respect.
