My Take
Peter Molyneux is, for my money, one of gaming's true visionaries and its most lovable overpromiser. The Guildford-born designer behind Populous, Dungeon Keeper, Black & White and Fable essentially invented the modern god game, and the OBE and BAFTA Fellowship confirm his standing. What I cherish is precisely the trait critics mock: his habit of dreaming far bigger than any team could ship. That isn't dishonesty to me, it's an irrepressible belief that games can do more. Even when execution lagged the pitch, founding 22cans years into his career shows a restless imagination that simply refuses to settle. I'll take an ambitious dreamer over a safe pair of hands.
