Prairie Prince

Prairie Prince is the kind of musician I instinctively gravitate toward: the foundational player rather than the frontman. As the drummer of The Tubes and a long-serving member of Jefferson Starship, plus a tireless session man, he's the steady pulse beneath countless records. What charms me is that he's also a visual artist, and I suspect that painterly eye feeds his sense of color and dynamics behind the kit. I have a soft spot for rhythm-section craftsmen who make everyone around them sound better, and Prince strikes me as exactly that quiet, indispensable backbone.
