My Take
Rebel Wilson earns my respect for understanding comedy as a form of control. She arrived from Sydney with a University of New South Wales education and a writer-producer's brain, then built characters—most famously in Pitch Perfect—that turned every potential punchline aimed at her into a punchline she owned. That is not just confidence; it is authorship. I find her career a quiet lesson in self-definition: write your own roles, steer your own image, laugh first and loudest. Recognition like the 2021 BBC 100 Women nod suggests the wider world has noticed she is far more strategist than sidekick. I suspect her most personal work is still ahead of her.
