My Take

Reinier is a player I find myself quietly pulling for, even through the stops and starts. Born in Brasília, he arrived from Flamengo as one of Real Madrid's expensive teenage bets, an attacking midfielder loaded with that loose, inventive Brazilian technique. But huge expectations and a string of loans have made his path harder than the talent should have allowed. Carrying a Madrid price tag so young is a brutal kind of pressure, and the fact that he's kept fighting rather than sulking earns my sympathy. I keep hoping he lands somewhere that finally lets the gift breathe, because the ability is clearly real.
