My Take
Resul Pookutty is the kind of artist I love to champion. From a small village in Kollam to an Academy Award for Slumdog Millionaire, he proved that sound design is real authorship, not background plumbing. The fact that he works fluidly across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam and British cinema shows a craftsman who treats every language and texture as its own challenge. A film lives or dies on the atmosphere its mixer builds, and Pookutty, also a Padma Shri honoree, is one of those unsung heroes shaping how we feel a scene before we even notice. He has my deep respect.
