Rufus Sewell

Rufus Sewell is the actor I point to when people claim villains are easy. Those hooded eyes and that unsettling stillness made Dark City and A Knight's Tale crackle, but the real revelation is how much restraint he brings to quieter work like The Father. He is an Olivier-winning stage actor who spent decades being the best thing in other people's movies before the industry finally caught up. I find his career a lesson in patience: keep doing impeccable work and the right roles eventually arrive. Few performers can make menace and melancholy feel like the same emotion. He can.
