Sakura Miyajima

Sakura Miyajima does not fit neatly into one box, and I think that is the point. Born in 1983 in Edogawa, Tokyo, she graduated from Kyoritsu Women's University and built a career as a freelance announcer while also working as a television personality, a fashion model, and a singer. She is represented by Watanabe Entertainment. In Japan, that freelance path is much riskier than it looks from outside. Announcers who stay on staff at a network have a salary and a schedule handed to them; the ones who go independent have to be re-hired, essentially, every single season. Surviving that for two decades means she is good at two very different things at once: reading copy cleanly under a live camera, and being quick and warm enough to hold her own when a variety show turns chaotic. Those skills rarely live in the same person. She is also a singer who, as a longtime Super Sentai fan, has sung insert songs for the series since 2015.
