My Take

Samson Baidoo is exactly the kind of prospect I enjoy tracking. Born in Graz in 2004, he has already pushed beyond Austria to defend in Ligue 1 with Lens, which is no small leap for someone barely into his twenties. Defenders rarely get the headlines, but I have always rooted for the players who do the unglamorous work of holding a line and steadying a side. There is real grit in climbing from a regional academy to a top European league this young. I will be curious to see how far his ceiling goes; a few seasons from now his name could be on much bigger stages.
