My Take
Scott Gorham is, to me, a quiet hero of rock guitar. An American kid from Glendale who flew to Ireland, aced the 1974 audition, and held Thin Lizzy together when the band's future looked shaky. He never founded the group, yet he became its backbone, and that says something about character over ego. The twin-guitar interplay he helped define is the opposite of showboating; it is two players making each other sound better. Still touring decades on, he embodies the under-celebrated session-minded craftsman. I will always root for the player who lifts the song rather than himself.
