Scott Ian

Scott Ian is the connective tissue of thrash metal. As Anthrax's co-founder and sole continuous member, he has held a famously volatile band together for decades on rhythm guitar and lyrics, while also driving Stormtroopers of Death, the Damned Things and Mr. Bungle. What I find compelling is his sheer constancy: the grin is a brand, but underneath sits an unwavering devotion to heavy music. Plenty of musicians chase reinvention; Ian's superpower is staying exactly who he is, loud and committed. That kind of stubborn integrity is rare, and I respect it enormously.
