My Take

What strikes me about Selina Jen is how thoroughly she belongs to a generation of Taiwanese pop. As one third of S.H.E she helped define Mandopop's girl-group era, and I find it telling that she finished her education degree at National Taiwan Normal University right in the thick of that fame. That balance of pop stardom and a teaching credential in civic education says a lot about her grounding. She's stretched across singing, hosting and acting too, so I read her less as a manufactured idol and more as a genuine all-rounder who built a durable career on top of the early hits.
