Show Ayanocozey

If you only know Show Ayanocozey from a photo, you will assume he is a joke: the towering pompadour, the school-uniform stage outfit, the whole delinquent-nostalgia costume. I assumed that too, years ago. The thing that changed my mind was simply duration. Born in Chiba in 1976, he has kept that character running for decades, including an annual festival he hosts in his home region. Novelty acts do not last that long. Committing to a bit for a career, and defending it every single year against people who keep waiting for you to drop it, is much harder than it looks from the outside. He is the lead vocalist of Kishidan and also had a run as DJ OZMA, and behind the loud look there is clearly someone planning very carefully how to keep the character alive. I find that combination more interesting than any biography a publicist could have written for him.
