My Take
Srinivas Avasarala interests me as a genuine multi-hyphenate of Telugu cinema, acting, writing lyrics, scripting and directing rather than coasting on one craft. His two Nandi Awards suggest the industry recognizes substance over flash. I have a soft spot for actors who also write and direct, because understanding a film from every chair tends to make their storytelling kinder to its characters. There is something quietly intelligent about an Andhra University graduate who chooses craft over celebrity heat. He may not dominate headlines, but I suspect he is the sort of dependable, thoughtful maker a film industry quietly leans on.
