Stella Maxwell

Stella Maxwell interests me less for the runway and more for the discipline behind it. Born in Brussels to Northern Irish parents and raised partly in New Zealand, she climbed to Victoria's Secret Angel status and became the face of Max Factor, which in a brutally competitive industry is no accident of looks alone. I tend to assume there is real grit beneath that kind of longevity, the self-management and resilience that the glossy images never show. The modeling world chews people up quickly, so staying at the top says something about temperament. I respect the unseen work more than the photographs, and I suspect there is plenty of it.
