Steven Van Zandt is the kind of two-track artist I instinctively root for. As a core member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band he's a genuine rock lifer, yet he also earned ensemble acting honors as Silvio Dante in The Sopranos and led Lilyhammer. That he excels both backing a legend and carrying a scene says everything about his craftsmanship. Rooted in the working-class East Coast sound and inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame, "Little Steven" trades flash for character. I have a real soft spot for performers who are first-rate whether in the spotlight or just off it, and he's exactly that.

Steven Van Zandt (né Lento; born November 22, 1950), also known as Little Steven or Miami Steve, is an American musician and actor. He is a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, in which he plays guitar and mandolin. He has appeared in several television drama series, including as Silvio Dante in The Sopranos (1999–2007) and as Frank Tagliano/Giovanni "Johnny" Henriksen in Lilyhammer (2012–2014).
