Sunao Takizawa

Sunao Takizawa is a rugby union player out of Aichi Prefecture — which, honestly, is not the first place you think of when someone says Japanese rugby. Aichi is baseball and soccer country, so the fact that he not only gravitated toward rugby but pushed all the way into Waseda University's program is already telling you something about this guy's stubbornness in the best possible way. Waseda rugby is legitimately elite in Japan, a program with serious pedigree and zero tolerance for passengers, so coming through that system means he earned every inch of his development the hard way. At 175cm he's not the biggest body on the field, but rugby at that level was never purely a size game — positioning, decision-making under pressure, reading the play a split second faster than the other guy — that's where guys like him make their mark. Somehow that tracks for a rugby player.
