Taku Yamamoto

Taku Yamamoto interests me as a study in regional political endurance. Coming from Sabae in Fukui, a town famous for its eyewear craftsmanship, he carried that grounded, industrial sensibility into the House of Representatives. What catches my attention is the gap in his service, elected in the early 1990s, out, then back again in the 2000s. That arc of falling and climbing back tells me something about persistence and the will of voters who give a second chance. With a businessman's background too, I imagine he governed with a real ear for the local shop floor.
