Tang Renjian

Tang Renjian, born in Chongqing, studied at the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics and built a long career in agricultural policy, rising to Governor of Gansu and then Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in 2020. That career collapsed in 2024, when he was investigated while still in office, removed as minister and expelled from the party, and in 2025 he was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for bribery. It is a stark reminder of how quickly a quiet technocrat's record can turn into a cautionary tale.
