My Take
Tanni Grey-Thompson is one of those rare figures whose second act rivals the first. Dominating wheelchair racing with multiple Paralympic golds would be a full life for most, yet she pivoted into the House of Lords as a life peer and a respected broadcaster. What strikes me is the through-line: she never stopped advocating, just changed the arena. Being named to the BBC 100 Women confirms her influence reaches well beyond sport. I admire athletes who convert hard-won credibility into structural change for others, and she has done exactly that with unusual grace and persistence.
