Ted DiBiase

Ted DiBiase fascinates me as a master of being hated. The 191 cm Omaha native came up through genuine amateur wrestling, yet what endures is the Million Dollar Man, a villain so smug audiences truly loathed him. Playing a heel that well is harder than being a hero, and his dual induction into both the WWE and Wrestling Observer Halls of Fame proves he earned respect as performer and technician alike. Thirty titles is a quietly staggering number. I have a soft spot for the artistry of the great villain, and DiBiase remains, for me, the gold standard of that craft.
