My Take
Ted Yoho has one of those second-act biographies I find genuinely compelling. Before Congress he was a veterinarian, and that detail tells me a lot. He served Florida's 3rd district from 2013 to 2021 as a Republican, but what holds my interest is the path: a University of Florida graduate who had a real trade in his hands before politics ever entered the picture. Whatever one makes of his record, there is a grounded quality to someone who came to Washington with a stethoscope in his past rather than a law degree. I am drawn to politicians shaped by work outside the chamber.
