My Take
Thomas Vinterberg is, for me, one of the great moral filmmakers of his generation. Co-founding Dogme 95 with Lars von Trier was an act of creative rebellion, stripping cinema down to chase emotional truth. But his real achievement is the work itself: The Celebration, The Hunt, and Another Round confront human weakness and shame without flinching, leaving you shaken. Sweeping both Best Film and Best Director at the 2020 European Film Awards felt entirely earned. What I value is his refusal to look away from pain, and his ability to find grace inside it. He put Danish cinema's quiet intensity on the world map.
