My Take
Troy Van Leeuwen is the kind of musician I quietly revere. Born in Los Angeles, he has anchored Queens of the Stone Age since 2002, making him the band's second-longest-serving member behind Josh Homme, and that loyalty alone tells you something about his character. Beyond guitar, his work as a multi-instrumentalist shapes the thick, hypnotic desert-rock texture I love. He is not the frontman grabbing the light but the craftsman whose contribution you feel rather than notice. I have always been drawn to players like him, the steady architects who make a band sound enormous without ever needing the credit.
