My Take
Ulrich Thomsen is the kind of actor who anchors a film without ever showing off. Coming out of Funen, he announced himself to the world with The Celebration, a genuinely confrontational piece of cinema, and he has since collected multiple Bodil and Robert Awards plus a Silver Shell. International audiences know him as Kai Proctor in Banshee, but I most respect the depth he built at home in Denmark. The fact that he also directs and writes signals a restless, complete artist. He commands the screen through stillness and weight, and films are sharper for having him in them.
