Wu Xuan Yi

Wu Xuanyi, known as Soni, embodies a particular kind of cross-border grit that I deeply admire. Born in Haikou in 1995, she launched her career in South Korea with WJSN, then returned home to finish second on Produce 101 China and join Rocket Girls 101. Building a career across two industries with different languages and cultures is brutally hard, and she did it through sheer persistence as a singer, dancer, and actor. I gravitate toward performers who climb steadily rather than explode overnight. There is something genuinely inspiring about an artist who keeps reinventing herself, and I expect her best work is still ahead.
