Yasuhiro Takami

Yasuhiro Takami is a member of the House of Representatives who grew up in Izumo, Shimane — yes, that Izumo, the ancient home of Japanese mythology and the shrine famous for matchmaking — and I find that origin quietly interesting for a politician. He went all the way through to the University of Tokyo's graduate school of public policy, which tells you he came into politics through serious study rather than family dynasty or celebrity pivot. Born in 1980, he's hitting his mid-forties now, which in Japanese political terms is really just when things start getting interesting.
