Yasushi Katsume

Honestly, the Tokyo University Law Faculty to graduate school pipeline is about as elite as it gets in Japan, and Yasushi Katsume walked that whole road — which makes the leap into actual elected office feel less like a career pivot and more like a logical next move. Born in Kyoto's Kamigyo ward in 1974, there's something fitting about a guy who grew up surrounded by old-city gravitas ending up in the House of Representatives. He's not the flashy type; no celebrity agency, no wild social media presence, just a website and a quiet Instagram. I find that kind of low-ego, head-down seriousness oddly refreshing in a political landscape full of noise.
