My Take
Zar Amir Ebrahimi is, to me, one of the most compelling actors working today, precisely because her art is inseparable from her resilience. Driven from her career in Iran, she rebuilt herself in France and delivered a fierce, unforgettable performance in Holy Spider that earned the Cannes Best Actress prize in 2022. That she is also a director and photographer tells me her creative impulse runs deeper than any single role. What I admire most is the refusal to be defined by adversity; instead she transmuted it into work of real moral weight. She belongs among the cinema voices I watch most closely.
