Zhu Zhu

Zhu Zhu reads to me as a genuine multi-hyphenate who refuses a single label. Born in Beijing and educated at Beijing Technology and Business University, she broke through as an MTV China VJ, then expanded into singing, modeling and acting. I find that on-camera origin telling; she earned attention through voice and personality before adding craft, which gives her a versatility many performers never develop. Emerging just as Chinese entertainment opened outward, she was well placed to bridge worlds. I have a weakness for artists who move fluidly across formats, and her border-crossing adaptability makes her someone I instinctively want to follow.
