My Take
For my money, Alex Gibney is less a filmmaker than a relentless investigator who happens to use a camera. Yale-educated and New York-bred, he turns documentaries into acts of accountability, going after Enron, Scientology and Silicon Valley fraud without flinching. The Oscar, the Emmys and the Writers Guild Award only confirm what the films themselves prove: he refuses to look away from inconvenient power. What I value most is his stamina, the willingness to spend years untangling a single lie. In an era drowning in noise, I trust the patience and moral nerve he brings to every subject he takes on.
