Alex Kapranos

Alex Kapranos earns my respect as a frontman who never coasted on a single sound. As the voice and guitar of Franz Ferdinand, he made angular, danceable rock feel intelligent rather than arch. What I admire is his restlessness: the university-educated curiosity that pushed him into side projects like FFS and BNQT instead of safely repeating a hit formula. He writes, sings, and plays with a wit that stays sharp without turning cold. Plenty of artists his age settle; he keeps experimenting. That refusal to grow stale is, to me, the mark of a genuinely durable musician.
