My Take
Anika Noni Rose has one of those voices that stops you cold, and her Tiana made history as Disney's first Black princess in a way that genuinely mattered to a generation of kids. What I admire most is her range: she's a bona fide Broadway powerhouse who won a Tony, but she's equally comfortable carrying a Disney animated lead or a prestige TV series. Dreamgirls reminded everyone she could hold her own next to Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson. She's an artist with serious theatrical chops who never feels like she's coasting, and I wish she got even bigger roles.
