Anneka Rice

Anneka Rice charms me as a particular kind of British presenter, the restless, hands-on sort. She made her name as the helicopter-hopping skyrunner on Channel 4's Treasure Hunt and even devised her own show, which tells you plenty about her drive. The path from the BBC World Service through children's TV reads like someone shaped by real time on the ground. I love that she is a painter too, a genuinely multitalented streak. She comes across as pure curiosity in motion, and I am always pulled toward people who live that far forward on their toes.
