Antônio Carlos Jobim

For me Jobim is less a person than a climate. He took samba, folded in cool jazz, and produced something so relaxed it can lower your blood pressure in a single bar. As a father of bossa nova he changed how the world imagines Brazil, and I find his genius lies precisely in how effortless he makes it sound.
