My Take
I have a soft spot for theatrical metal frontmen, and Blackie Lawless is a defining one. As the voice of W.A.S.P., the Tampa native turned shock-rock spectacle into a real career, weathering controversy without ever sanding down his edges. Born in 1956 and still roaring decades on, he is more than provocation; the man started on bass and handles guitar and vocals with genuine musical instinct beneath the theatrics. I admire the stubbornness it takes to defend your own outsized style against constant pushback. A rocker who refuses to mellow with age earns my respect every time.
