Chris Finch

Chris Finch represents the long, unglamorous road I find most compelling in sports. From Cambridge, Ohio, and Franklin & Marshall, he grinded through assistant jobs in Houston, Denver, New Orleans, and Toronto before earning the Minnesota Timberwolves head coaching seat. That patience tells me everything about his character. He is widely regarded as an offensive tactician, and I respect coaches whose value lies in making players better rather than performing for cameras. There is something deeply admirable about someone who climbs from the bottom of the bench to the top job, and I will always root for that kind of perseverance.
