My Take
Darryl Sittler is, to me, the very definition of a hockey legend. Born in Kitchener, Ontario, in 1950, he captained the Toronto Maple Leafs and earned his place in the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame, and Canada's Walk of Fame. What I respect most is leadership; a captain who lifts his teammates becomes the spine of a franchise, and Sittler clearly was that. The lasting affection he commands in his home country tells me he was as admirable off the ice as on it. He has my wholehearted applause.
