My Take

Dave Meltzer fascinates me as a one-man institution. Publishing the Wrestling Observer Newsletter since 1983, he turned obsessive documentation into a form of authority so respected that his star ratings still send ripples through the entire wrestling world. I find it remarkable that a single journalist, working a niche many dismissed, ended up enshrined in a professional wrestling hall of fame. Love him or argue with him, he built the historical record that the industry now leans on. To me he embodies what relentless, decades-long commitment to a craft actually looks like, and that earns my respect as a chronicler.
