My Take
Debbie Lee Carrington deserves far more recognition than she usually gets. Behind some of cinema's most memorable images, a Martian rebel in Total Recall, an Ewok in Return of the Jedi, an elf in The Polar Express, was her craft and physical courage as both actress and stuntwoman. I have real admiration for performers who pour themselves into roles that rarely carry their name above the title yet give films their soul. She worked the margins of Hollywood with undeniable presence until her passing in 2018. To me she represents the unsung artistry that makes movies feel alive, and I salute her for it.
