My Take
Lipstadt is, to me, a model of scholarship with a spine. Confronting Holocaust denial directly, then winning the libel suit brought against her by proving historical truth point by point in open court, is one of the bravest acts I can think of in academic life. Too often we treat history as a safe profession, but she put facts on the line in a real fight and won. Her later service as the U.S. special envoy against antisemitism extends that same mission into policy. I deeply admire intellectuals who use their knowledge to defend reality itself.
