My Take

Donny van de Beek is the player I find quietly painful to watch. At Ajax he was electric, a midfielder with an uncanny knack for ghosting into the box, and all of Europe tipped him as the next big thing. Then the bigger move came and the minutes dried up, leaving him battling for a place at Girona in Spain. I have a soft spot for talented players whose timing simply never clicks, and his is one of football's frustrating what-ifs. Still, as long as he keeps stepping onto the pitch I believe another bright spell is coming. I am rooting for him.
