Doug Ducey

Ducey interests me because he ran an ice cream chain before running a state, and I think that business-first path shaped how he governed. Leading Cold Stone Creamery, then serving two full terms as Arizona's governor, suggests someone comfortable with operations, numbers, and managing people rather than just trading in ideology. I tend to trust leaders who learned to balance a ledger before balancing a budget. Whatever one makes of his politics, his operator's instinct for execution feels like an underrated asset in public office, and that practicality is what I find most compelling.
