Doutzen Kroes

What impresses me most about Doutzen Kroes is not the runway resume but the trajectory behind it. Being plucked from rural Friesland in 2003, sent straight to New York, and becoming only the second Dutch woman to earn the Victoria's Secret Angel title is a genuinely remarkable climb. At 179 cm she had the physical presence, but presence alone does not sustain a career like hers. I read her as a disciplined, self-possessed person who built something durable in a brutally fickle industry, and that quiet resilience earns my respect.
