My Take
Dr. Drew occupies a space few media figures ever manage: he is genuinely credentialed and genuinely entertaining. Hosting Loveline from 1984 to 2016 means he spent three decades answering late-night questions about love and addiction that most professionals would dodge. I respect that he kept his footing as an internist and addiction medicine specialist while building a broadcast career — the medicine grounded the media, not the other way around. Whether or not you agree with every on-air opinion, his willingness to talk plainly about addiction long before it became a mainstream conversation strikes me as his real legacy.
