My Take
Eduard Khil is one of my favorite accidental immortals. A celebrated Soviet baritone, People's Artist of the RSFSR, decorated again and again by his state, he reached a second, stranger fame decades later when his wordless 'Trololo' performance became a global internet meme. I love that arc: a serious, classically honored singer rediscovered by a generation that didn't speak his language and didn't need to. His joyful, lyric-free humming proved that music travels past borders and eras on its own. He died in 2012, but that grinning melody keeps making strangers smile, which is about the finest legacy a singer can leave.
